Manifestations of resistance against normative orders are characterized more than ever by an aestheticization of political and social concerns. Different media and artistic strategies are deployed as a means to pose radical challenges to existing political and legal systems.
The pictorial glossary is an ongoing project of the „Nomos of Images“ research project, based at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz, Max-Planck-Institut. Several forms of aesthetic resistances were discussed in an interdisciplinary workshop “On the Aesthetics of Resistance / Zur Ästhetik des Widerstands”, held in December 2015 at the KHI in Florence. The proceedings of the workshop will be published in the journal kritische berichte (issue 1.2016), ed. by Carolin Behrmann and Henry Kaap.
The glossary is open to contributions, which will be edited and revised before published online. For detailed information please contact hkaap[at]zedat.fu-berlin.de or carolin.behrmann[at]khi.fi.it.
